Carpet is a Soft flooring and generally consists of three layers: the top is the fiber layer which is typically made of wool, nylon, polyester, or triexta.
Sometimes these fibers are mixed together on one carpet. The fibers are then sewn into the primary backing and then the secondary backing is glued to the primary backing and fibers using latex. Each fiber layer has its own benefits and functional purpose.

- Spills are best treated by soaking up the spill as much as possible (paper towels are by far the most absorbent) and using a small amount of warm water to loosen the rest up. Excess water should be soaked up. In the event you need little extra strength, a drop of dawn dish shop can help but be careful not to use too much soap or it can get stuck in the fibers and attract dirt.
- The best way to keep carpet looking new is to take your shoes off before walking on it. It keeps the dirt and bacteria off the carpet and helps them maintain the original look.
- Vacuum often. Vacuuming keeps the carpets clean and prevents the fibers from getting matted down.
- Most carpet manufacturers recommend a steam cleaning every 12 to 18 months.
